Curly 3hem (Kucher Yevhenii, Kyiv, Ukraine, b. 1999) is an artist who rejects the aesthetics of the ideal. Instead, his paintings embrace details that emphasize the philosophy of chaos as an integral part of life.

From a very young age, Yevhenii felt a deep connection between street art and his own worldview. He closely followed the scene, and during his first year at university, he began to express himself as a graffiti writer, quickly developing a signature style.

The turning point in his artistic journey was his military service, where strict prohibitions ruled. Driven by an irrepressible desire to paint despite the ban on art supplies, Yevhenii hid markers, pens, and ink beneath the gym floorboards, and stashed notebooks under his mattress. It was there that he began drawing portraits and architecture, taking his first steps toward mastering a new medium - ink.

Fountain pens, water-soluble ink, blots, and smudges - this is how the artist's technique was born, creating something beautiful out of imperfect, chaotic details. Over time, 3hem realized that life is not a rigid system, but a form of anarchy and uncontrollable chaos. Instead of frightening him, this realization inspired and energized him, driving him to transfer these emotions onto paper and canvas. His technique serves as a direct analogy to life: despite all its rough edges and irregularities, the overall picture remains beautiful.

Since 2020, he has been actively sharing his work on social media, leading to collaborations with brands such as Xiaomi, Pin-up, Battery, and Creative Depo.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Yevhen has been actively supporting the military by raising funds through his art, selling paintings, and auctioning painted artillery shells. As of 2026, more than 500 of his artworks are held in private collections. 3hem is also a two-time Ukrainian record holder for creating the largest mural of a military leader and the highest number of street art pieces on a single object.
